While we’ve been a little spoilt with genre TV over the past few years, it now appears that it’s the end of the line for SyFy’s Dark Matter.
As per Deadline, the series has not been picked up for a fourth season. Following the third season finishing just a week or so ago, hopes were high that the show may be renewed for a further season, but that is now not to be the case.
Co-creator Joseph Mallozzi confirmed the outlet's report by putting out a statement reading, “It is with great sadness that I confirm the news. SyFy has cancelled Dark Matter after three seasons. To say that I’m incredibly disappointed would be an understatement. I’ll save me comments and field your questions in a future blog entry. For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans. You all deserved better.”
It was only last week that fans were rallying around the series in the hope of a fourth season being green-lit, but the network has ultimately decided against continuing with the show despite steady ratings.
