There are many reasons to love Star Wars, and one of them is the tremendous fun that can be with the forty-year-old franchise, one that can excite, delight, thrill, bring emotion, and on many occasions generate huge amounts of fun. Clearly well aware of this, Sean C. Jackson has created a series of 29 mazes that send you, a pencil and an eraser across the galaxy, from Tatooine to Jakku and everywhere in between.

Here’s where the fun begins, as you flick through the thick pages from maze to maze, starting with the Jawa canyon and the Tantive IV right through to the Emperor’s chamber on Exegol. As Jackson himself says, even he forgets the solutions to all of his mazes, so be sure to use a pencil instead of a pen, as the heavy gauge paper makes it easy to erase and start again at a later date. Kids will naturally love it and maze fans will also get a kick, but it’s the fandom that will take the most from this book. Each page has a small list of characters that you could encounter during the maze, so a run through the droid foundry on Geonosis could bring you into contact with Padme Amidala herself and a quintet of droidekas. A noodle through Vandor has all of your Solo: A Star Wars Story characters in the maze, while on a trip to Nevarro you will find a selection of camtono’s and moisture vaporators to dodge.

This is a LOT of fun, bringing together a clear love of Star Wars with some fascinating and tricky mazes. With the festive season not too far in the future, this will no doubt be slipping into stockings the world over as Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and more chill out after the Queen’s speech and a cargo hold full of turkey with these mazes and a pencil they got out of the cracker. For Star Wars book collectors it’s an easy win, and looks certain to be a book that’s seen on shelves far and wide, so this is definitely one to get, and fingers crossed publishers Chronicle invites Jackson to do more mazes from the galaxy far, far away.
STAR WARS MAZES is released September 16th from Chronicle Books and can be pre-ordered below….
