Sony has obtained the rights to turn critically acclaimed comic book THE SCULPTOR into a motion picture.  Multiple award-winning producer Scott Rudin will be involved, and Fright Night producer Josh Bratman has also been attached to the project.

Scott McCloud is a key figure in the comic books world. His book UNDERSTANDING COMICS is required reading in the industry.

THE SCULPTOR tells the story of David Smith, a down-on-his-luck artist who makes a deal with dark forces in order to become an exceptional artist. The catch is that he only has 200 days to live, which is unfortunate, as Smith also then meets girl of his dreams. The work has been praised for its deep storytelling and its examination of love and art.

The comic book is already a best-seller, even though it only came out this month. Given the high profile of those already involved in the production, it seems likely that this grown-up fairy tale will make waves in the months to come.
