With reboots, remakes and reimaginings so often the order of the day, now comes word that MTV’s Scream series is rebooting ahead of its third season.
After Season 2 came to a close last year, it was presumed that that was it for this small screen series, but seemingly that isn’t the case. With a six-episode third season now confirmed by MTV, Deadline reports that the new season will focus on a completely different storyline and cast to what has been seen in the first two years. This comes in the aftermath of a thirteen-episode debut season and a ten-episode second year.
The show suffered some pretty hefty ratings slumps in the US for its second season, and it seems as if MTV and Dimension TV see a full-on rejig of the series as a way to pique interest once more. And in that vein, a new showrunner is currently being sought after, too.
Scream: The TV Series can be found in Netflix here in the UK.
As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
