Back in 2015, Samuel L. Jackson was announced to star in Simon West’s remake of The Blob… and then everything went remarkably quiet on the project bar Goldcrest Films removing Jackson from their listing for the redo. Well, it now looks as if Jackson is indeed still on board and that the remake may well be moving forward shortly.

Speaking to The Toronto Sun, Jackson revealed that this new take on The Blob has found financing from China, explaining, “I’ve been running from or chasing King Kong, Godzilla, the Wolfman, whatever, since I was a kid. We’d go home and pretend to do all that stuff. So I’m doing Kong for the same reason I’ll probably be doing The Blob. I just got a call the other said they finally got their money from China to do The Blob.”

In addition to this, it’s believed that Simon West – best known for Con-Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables 2 and the When a Stranger Calls remake – is still on board to helm The Blob; a film that will be a new telling of the 1958 movie that saw Steve McQueen battling the titular beast. The original movie got a follow-up in the form of 1972’s Beware! The Blob before Kevin Dillon starred in a 1988 remake of the first film.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
