With the latest word being that Warner Brothers’ upcoming Green Lantern Corps. will largely serve as a buddy cop movie of sorts focussing on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, now comes some interesting information on just who may be being lined up to play Hal, the most famous of all the Emerald Knights.

The Wrap is reporting that Warners have put together a shortlist of names for the Hal Jordan gig, and that list interestingly includes the last man to play the character on the big screen. Yes, we’re talking about Ryan Reynolds, who headlined 2011’s doomed Green Lantern movie. Joining Reynolds on the list are Armie Hammer, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Tom Cruise.

Of course, this is all just rumour and speculation right now, but in fairness to The Wrap they’re usually spot on with this stuff. Obviously all is at the very early stage with Green Lantern Corps. right now, but it sounds like there’s certainly some interesting names being looked at to play Hal Jordan when the mass GL effort makes it to the big screen.

At present, Green Lantern Corps. is set for a July 24th, 2020 release. As ever, expect more on all of this as it develops over the next few months.
