Following on from the news of new tie-in comics books on the way for ARROW and THE FLASH, now come some casting news for the Barry Allen-centric show.

TV Line is reporting that Robbie Amell, cousin of ARROW’s Stephen Amell, will be playing Ronnie Raymond in THE FLASH. The character will be a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs, as well as being engaged to Danielle Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow. It’s said that he will also play an integral part in the accident that gave Grant Gustin’s Allen his newfound powers.

In the comic book world, Raymond becomes one half of the superhero Firestorm; a character that has the ability to turn matter into elements, not to mention has superhuman strength and the capability of flight. Combining his powers with Martin Stein, he takes on this superhero persona. Whether this will be something that plays out in THE FLASH remains to be seen. Given how Caitlin Snow becomes the villainous Killer Frost in the comics, things could certainly get interesting between these two lovebirds.

THE FLASH makes its US debut on Tuesday, 7th October, with a UK airing hopefully following shortly after that date.
