We pick up exactly where we left off, with our main protagonists attempting to escape the clutches of Clara and her dog. These opening moments harbour some of the best tension building moments in the series so far.
Riley manages to make it to the road and flag down an oncoming car, only for it to turn out to be a black pick-up, which proceeds to try and run her down. It finally catches up with her and Riley, trying to get her mum, Courtney, to help, is run over, stabbed and pretty much has her left arm cut off with the machete.
Of course, we then cut to a flashback because nothing else kills tension like a flashback. However, Riley isn’t quite dead and comes to the next morning, just after Dylan drives past where she lays.
We then move to Allison and Margot in Margot’s house, who are happy to talk about Clara and the fact that she is clearly the killer in their eyes, but of course, instead of actually making a smart decision, they choose not to follow up with Dylan or Riley yet or involve anyone else, including the police.
Courtney searches for Riley, checking in with Dylan before going straight to the police before Allison, Margot and Dylan meet up to worry about Riley. However, they are slightly relaxed by the fact that they haven’t received a text from the killer yet.
Bruce turns up to tell Clara that the police found her spiders, and Courtney receives a text from Riley’s phone asking for help and giving a location.
Allison and Dylan find Riley’s arm and fret over what to do with Margot before Margot decides that they have to go back, but this time armed. We discover that there is an armoury that ’80s era Arnie would have been proud of – including a damn rocket launcher! – before they all receive a text too.
Courtney arrives at her destination and finds Riley’s phone, only for a very nasty surprise when she picks it up. Allison, Dylan and Margot are sent to a different location, right near the cave, where they receive another text that shatters them.
The police arrive at Clara’s property, finding plenty of incriminating evidence, including Courtney.
Bruce finally catches up with Allison, spilling the beans about his marriage to Clara and a bombshell that her mother is actually alive.
Riley finds her way back to the trailer park but collapses metres away from her home, only to be found by Clara, who drags her back to the cave. There, Dylan bumps into her, and there is a knowing look that tells us that he knows more than he is letting on.
And so, we are left pondering what those last moments mean. Is Clara the killer after all? Is she working with Dylan to take revenge on his friends?
This is probably the best episode so far, with some plot points finding an ending and the stakes being raised for everyone.
