With the earlier news that a BLADE RUNNER sequel is back on, now comes word that the much-discussed redo of RED SONJA is similarly moving forward once more.

The Hollywood Reporter has news that Nu Image/Millennium Films have hired Christopher Cosmos to pen the film, meaning that there are still plans to do something with the fiery heroine.

This is a property that we’ve not heard anything on for a fair while now, with Robert Rodriguez at one point nearly seven years ago planning to do the film with Rose McGowan as the titular Sonja and with Doug Aarniokoski to direct. That project didn’t amount to much at all, before quietly vanishing into the ether.

How far things get on this latest attempt at a new RED SONJA, your guess is as good as ours at this stage. Still, it definitely appears that there are plans to try and do something new (or potentially rehashed) with the famed female warrior.
