Film fans and collectors are going to be able to grab a piece of Hollywood history as hundreds of original props and costumes are going up for sale in The Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia live auction.

Taking place at London’s BFI IMAX in Waterloo on September 23rd, over £1 million worth of film memorabilia will be sold to the highest bidder in an event organised by The Prop Store, in partnership with BFI IMAX and together with ODEON cinemas. While you may well need deep pockets, there are lots that will suit most serious collectors’ wallets.

Some of the fantastic items going under the hammer include A Dalek and shooting script from the Doctor Who dramatisation An Adventure in Space and Time, the tunic worn by Christopher Reeve in his iconic role of Superman, the original Grays Sports Almanac that causes Marty McFly so much trouble in Back to the Future II, the science officer costume Leonard Nimoy wore as Spock in the original 1966 Star Trek series, and the purple suede and snakeskin coat worn by Alex (Malcolm McDowell) in A Clockwork Orange (1971).

Among the other items are costumes and props from The Empire Strikes Back, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and even one of the helmets worn by the Knights of the Round Table in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Prop Store CEO Stephen Lane had this to say about the upcoming auction: “We’re incredibly proud to announce our second live auction in London and are delighted to be working in partnership with the UK’s leading cinema chain, ODEON. The wonderful venue they are providing for the auction will make it a truly great event for film fans and collectors alike. This year sees some fantastic material come to market and we are really looking forward to giving people the chance to take home their own pieces of movie and television history.”

And Andy Edge, Commercial Director at ODEON UK and Ireland said: “It’s very exciting to present these film mementos to the public, giving film fans the chance to pick up their own piece of Hollywood history. With this year’s film slate full of huge blockbusters, including Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Everest, The Walk, Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens – who knows what props will be sought after in the years to come.”

Prior to the auction itself, the items will be on free display at an exhibition at the BFI IMAX, Waterloo, London. This runs from September 9th until 23rd. The auction will be streamed live onto the web and bids can be placed online, over the phone or in person.

The auction takes place at the BFI IMAX Waterloo on September 23rd at 2pm.
