After plentiful rumblings of a March start date for a third outing for Rob Zombie’s famed Firefly family, Zombie himself has now moved to confirm that, yes, production is now underway on the film.

To be titled 3 from Hell, the film will again have Sheri Moon Zombie’s Baby, Bill Moseley’s Otis, and Sid Haig’s Captain Spaulding front-and-centre as carnage and chaos ensues.

Zombie took to his Instagram page to reveal the news:

This will be the third film to focus on the Firefly clan, with them first introduced in Zombie’s debut feature film, 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses. Following that picture, 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects saw the bloodshed and tension amped up even further in a movie that is often cited as Zombie’s best to date.

Since that 2005 film, horror hounds have regularly clamoured for a third Firefly-driven adventure, and now it’s officially happening.

Plot details on 3 from Hell are currently unknown, although there’s speculation that Baby, Otis, and Captain Spaulding will somehow be brought back from the grave – y’know, after the shootout finale of The Devil’s Rejects left the trio dead. Given how we do know that this threesome will indeed be back in action, it remains to be seen just how the small matter of their previous demise is handled.

The last we’d heard on 3 from Hell was that Zombie was in talks with Saban Films and Lionsgate to get the film a cinema, VOD, and Blu-ray/DVD release, having worked with both companies to distribute his last movie, 2016’s 31.
