It may only have aired five episodes to date, but AMC has already announced that Preacher has been renewed for a second season that will be made up of thirteen episodes and will arrive next year.

On this news, AMC’s Charlie Collier said, “Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season. What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”

In case you’re yet to check out Preacher, here’s the official blurb:

Preacher is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Dominic Cooper stars as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga plays Tulip, Joe Gilgun is Cassidy, and the rest of the cast are made up of the likes of Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Anatol Yusef, Tom Brooke and Derek Wilson.

And yes, Preacher is a show that’s definitely, definitely worth hunting down if you’ve yet to watch it.
