The Pet Sematary prequel movie, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, has released its first official trailer. The upcoming horror film will flesh out the backstory of the character of Jud Crandall, whose early experience with a haunted burial ground was briefly related in Stephen King’s 1983 novel, but whose story was not recounted in past feature film adaptations.

In Bloodlines: “In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine, behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path.”

The film is directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer, from a script co-authored by Beer and Jeff Buhler. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines stars David Duchovny, Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LaBlanc, Samantha Mathis, and Blaxploitation icon Pam Grier.

Ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, and its Paramount+ streaming premiere on October 6th, check out the trailer for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines below:
