One of the things that makes the Pathfinder tabletop roleplaying game so much fun is the way that various elements of the game come together. Paizo have worked quite hard to create a detailed fantasy world that inspires Games Masters to create interesting adventures. The world of Pathfinder has its own heroes, intended to inspire players to create even more interested and exciting stories.

Of course, Pathfinder is a roleplaying game and that means that you can (if you wish) use miniatures to enhance the game play. Iconic Heroes Evolved includes six plastic, pre-painted fantasy figures based on high-level versions of well-known characters from the Pathfinder games, books and spin-off media.

Valeros is a cocky human fighter, and in this set his model is posed as if he’s about to strike. Like all of these models, it’s specific to a certain fictional character but also just generic enough that gamers can find all sorts of uses on the table. Valeros is a fine looking hero and also a great ‘fighter/captain of the guard’ model. Harsk, the Dwarf ranger, is crammed with equipment and looks like he’s stepped straight out of a rulebook. Seoni, the human sorcerer, is perhaps the most impressive model of the set. The piece is covered in tiny tattoos and the pose is extremely evocative of spellcasting. Fumbs is a Goblin Alchemist; it’s a tiny model but it’s full of manic energy, great as a character piece or lead villain. Merisel the Elf Rogue is very willowy and looks more like an assassin than anything else. All these minis are made of a resilient plastic, so willowy isn’t a problem. Finally we get Kyra, a cleric that would look the part in all sorts of adventures. All these models have decent paint jobs and look tough enough to survive even the stickiest of tables.

Overall, the Pathfinder Battles: Iconic Heroes Evolved is a cool set for Pathfinder fans and a useful resource for fantasy gamers, especially those of us who don’t have the time or talent to paint models.
