Kyle Richards Returning as Lindsay Wallace for HALLOWEEN KILLS

Hot on the heels of Anthony Michael Hall announced as playing Tommy Doyle in next year’s Halloween Kills, now comes word that Tommy’s former partner in crime is also returning to Haddonfield.

Via HalloweenMovies, Lindsay Wallace will be featured in the movie. And not just that, but original actress Kyle Richards will be reprising the role she played in John Carpenter’s original Halloween offering.

If you remember, Lindsay and Tommy are the two youngsters being babysat on the night The Shape carved a path through Haddonfield in Carpenter’s 1978 picture. Since then, Richards has appeared in the likes of Eaten Alive and The Watcher in the Woods before starring in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

To be directed once again by David Gordon Green, and from a script put together by Green, Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills is booked in for an October 2020 release. Following that, Halloween Ends is already set for October 2021 – with that movie supposedly set to bring the franchise to an end once and for all.

Doctor Who The Abominable Snowmen gets a Vinyl Release from Demon Records

Doctor Who fans have another treat in store in September as Demon Music Group release audio from another classic serial on vinyl.

Demon Music Group presents The Abominable Snowmen (including an Amazon Exclusive version), a classic six-part adventure starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor and introducing one of his most popular enemies, the Yeti. In this classic ‘lost’ adventure (only one of the six episodes still remains in the BBC archives), first shown on BBC TV between September and November 1967, the TARDIS materialises in the Himalayan mountains, circa 1930, where Professor Travers has been trying to track down the legendary abominable snowmen. The Doctor soon discovers that the Yeti do exist, but as the servants of a terrible force – the Great Intelligence.

Presented across 3 x heavyweight 180g pieces of vinyl, this narrated TV soundtrack evokes another classic Doctor Who adventure in all its aural magnificence. The haunting sounds of the windswept Himalayas, the hynoptic chanting of Tibetan monks, the insistent bleeping of the Yeti control devices, and the terrifying roar of the creatures themselves are all accompanied by the eerie sonics of Ron
Grainer and Delia Derbyshire’s classic theme tune. Written by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln, this was the Yeti’s debut TV appearance, and they would soon return to menace the Doctor in another adventure. Linking narration is provided by Frazer Hines (Jamie) and the cast includes Deborah Watling as Victoria, Jack Watling as Professor Travers, David Spenser as Thonmi and Wolfe Morris as Padmasambhava.

Horror Channel Offers The Devil’s Candy for September

Sean Byrne’s excellent film The Devil’s Candy (which you can read more about in the latest issue of STARBURST) will have its UK TV premiere in September on Horror Channel.

It heads up a month of fantastic films including David Chirchirillo’s Bad Match, Chad Archibald’s Bite, the massive hit supernatural horror The Pact, Mick Garris’ Sleepwalkers (starring John Landis and Ron Perlman!), the monster croc crawls from Lake Placid, and there’s an all-star cast – including Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Jones, Elizabeth Olsen, and Robert De Niro in the chilling Red Lights.

Taika Waititi Lined Up For James Gunn’s SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel

As James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel continues to assemble its cast, now comes word that Taika Waititi may be joining the picture.

Via Deadline, Gunn is eager for the Thor: Ragnarok helmer to join The Suicide Squad – yes, the sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad is titled The Suicide Squad – although it’s not known what role is being lined up for Taika.

Given Waititi’s hectic schedule, it’s expected that it will be a small role or a voiceover gig. Currently, the New Zealander has Jojo Rabbit set for an October release, then will direct Next Goal Wins, and then there’s the small matter of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Production on The Suicide Squad is officially set to commence on September 23rd ahead of an August 6th, 2021 release.

Right now, plot details are scarce on the sequel – although we do know that Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Storm Reid, Steve Agee, Flula Borg and Nathan Fillion are joining a host of returning faces.

It was only yesterday that we reported on New Line’s Mortal Kombat reboot having added three more cast members, and now comes word on a further two names joining the picture.

Courtesy of Variety, the movie has cast The Dark Knight’s Chin Han as Shang Tsung and The Wolverine’s Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.

The pair join a cast that currently includes The Raid’s Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Thor’s Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, newcomer Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Supergirl’s Mehcad Brooks as Jax, The Meg’s Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Superstore’s Josh Lawson as Kano, an unspecified role for Deadpool 2’s Lewis Tan, and Power Rangers’ Ludi Lin lined up as Liu Kang.

Anthony Michael Hall is HALLOWEEN KILLS’ Tommy Doyle

Earlier this year, we heard rumblings that Tommy Doyle may be returning to the Halloween franchise in next year’s Halloween Kills – and now we have confirmation that Tommy will indeed be heading back to Haddonfield once again.

Courtesy of Variety, Tommy will be played by longtime genre favourite Anthony Michael Hall. AMH is likely best known for offerings such as The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Edward Scissorhands, of course.

As for Tommy, he’s one of the poor youngsters tormented by The Shape back in John Carpenter’s 1978 Halloween. Tommy was being babysat by Laurie Strode on the night he came home.

Brian Andrews played Tommy in that first movie, Danny Ray had a cameo as a teen Tommy in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, and an adult version of Tommy would turned up as a key character in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. In Curse, it was a fresh-faced Paul Rudd who played Tommy.

There had been talk that Rudd wanted to reprise the Tommy role in Halloween Kills, but that his schedule was already booked in with Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters film.

It’s worth noting that Halloween 6 is now totally non-canon, however, with last year’s Halloween completely ignoring any and every movie bar Carpenter’s ’78 picture.

Nathan Fillion Joins SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel

Who doesn’t love Nathan Fillion, right? And now, the genre favourite has been added to James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel.

Via Deadline, Fillion has signed on for an undisclosed role in the follow-up – a move which sees the actor re-teaming with Gunn after having appeared in Slither, Super and lending his vocals to Guardians of the Galaxy.

Away from his roles in those Gunn movies, FIllion is also beloved for his turn in the likes of Firefly, Serenity, Castle and can currently been seen in The Rookie.

In addition to this, Brightburn’s Steve Agee has signed on for the Suicide Squad sequel – currently titled The Suicide Squad – in the role of King Shark. That villainous humanoid shark is a massive favourite of many a comic book fan, and Agee himself has previously worked with Gunn as one of the Ravagers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

At present, The Suicide Squad is booked in for an August 2021 release.
