CW Seed’s Vixen has proved to be quite the success so far. So much so, the titular heroine has been revealed to be transitioning from the animated series to the live-action realm of Arrow. Today brings word on the future of Vixen’s solo series, however.

Fresh from the recent TCA gathering, The CW’s Mark Pedowitz has confirmed that Vixen has been renewed for a second season. After confirming Season 2, he teased the character’s live-action arrival by saying, “Hopefully that character can spin itself out or, if not, join the Legends.” Of course, the ‘Legends’ Pedowitz talks about are the titular team of the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

What’s most refreshing and unique about Vixen is that Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voices the animal-channeling hero in the animated Vixen show, will be playing the character in live-action when she turns up later this year in Arrow. Based on what Mark Pedowitz said, it looks like the plan is for the live-action Vixen to be a semi-recurring character, be it in Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow, a show that could feature a revolving roster of characters as it progresses.

Additionally, executive producer Greg Berlanti discussed the notion of Arrow and The Flash crossing over with Legends. He said, “It’s intermittent throughout. Because they’re a band of time travelling rogues, it’s harder for Arrow and Flash to be connected story-wise to it throughout the season. That being said, if you know the histories of Arrow and Flash, it should be extra fun in its own way as we delve deeper and deeper into the characters’ lives.”

Interestingly, executive producer Phil Klemmer admitted that there is a “100% chance” that past or future versions of Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen and Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen could appear in Legends of Tomorrow, hinting, “We will have a couple marked crossover moments that hopefully will keep people satisfied.”

Expect a second season of Vixen later this year, whilst both Arrow and The Flash return to US screens next week ahead of UK returns shortly after. As for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the spin-off series will debut on January 21st.
