Hot on the heels of our recent news regarding Neil Jordan’s return to the world of Vampires for BYZANTINE, comes the announcement that auteur filmmaker Jim Jarmusch is also jumping on the Fangwagon with his currently untitled “crypto-vampire love story”.

The movie sounds like a real labour of love for Jarmusch who has been working on the screenplay for a number of years and will begin shooting early 2012 in such diverse locations as Detroit, Morocco and Germany.

Already on board are Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS); Tilda Swinton (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA); John Hurt (THE TIGGER MOVIE); and the very much in demand Mia Wasikowska (ALICE IN WONDERLAND).

Although not known for his work in the horror genre, anybody familiar with the director’s impressive filmography will be able to attest just why this movie promises to be so interesting. If he can do for vampires half what he did for chubby katana-wielding samurai wannabes* then we’re in for a treat indeedy!

Expect a late  2012 release.

*The superb GHOST DOG.
