Popular fantasy author Neil Gaiman is to have four of his short stories adapted for a TV series. The anthology is being made by Sky Arts and will be titled Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories.

Few details are currently available but it has been stated that there will be an ensemble cast across each episode and that filming will begin at the end of the month under the direction of Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, makers of the Nick Cave biopic 20,000 Days on Earth.

Although it is yet to be announced exactly which stories will be adapted, the wide variety available in his several released collections provide a wealth of possibility. Some that may make for compelling TV include Snow, Glass, Apples, a retelling of Snow White from the perspective of the Wicked Stepmother who is the only one immune to the charms of the monstrous creature that is the beloved princess; The Problem of Susan, a feminist criticism of the character’s treatment in The Chronicles of Narnia and her exclusion from The Last Battle; and A Study in Emerald, a story amalgamating Sherlock Holmes and the Cthulhu Mythos involving the investigation of the murder of one of the lizardmen royal family.
