With Arnold revealing recently that he’s very much involved in the development of the oft-talked about Terminator 5, it looks like it’s only a matter of time before it’s officially greenlit. Today, rights owners Skydance (who purchased the property in 2010) have brought on board a fresh pair of writers to produce a screenplay worthy of the franchise, and one that will rid our collective memories of that McG travesty, Terminator: Salvation. Step forward Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. Kalogridis broke into the industry by penning (and producing) several episodes of the short-lived Batman spin-off Birds of Prey, before going on to write several features including Vikings vs Aliens flick Pathfinder, and Martin Scorsese’s award winning Shutter Island. Projects on her roster also include the big screen adaptation of Battle Angel for regular collaborator (and original Terminator creator) James Cameron. Co-writer Lussier is less experienced, and is mainly recognized for his Editing work; though he did write Dracula 2001 and its two sequels (yes, there were sequels) Legacy and Ascension. 2011’s Drive Angry was also his, and though it got a critical kicking, it has gone on to acquire a small cult following.

That’s all the details for now, but we’ll have more on Terminator 5 as it develops…
