Comicbook THE MONSTER HUNTER’S SURVIVAL GUIDE has been snapped up for a big-screen adaptation by writer Simon Kinberg (SHERLOCK HOLMES), who will produce it under his Genre Films banner, with Dawyne ‘The Rock’ Johnson already ear-marked for the lead.

The comicbook itself, published by independents Zenescope, only started life in January of this year, and was created and written by Jon Paul Russ. Issue to issue the book does what the title suggests, educating the reader on how to defeat a different selection of supernatural beasties in each volume.

This of course will mean some radical rewriting will be needed, since the books themselves don’t have a solid through-line character to hang the film version’s narrative on, but we can see some awesome franchise possibilities with this one. But we guess your excitement levels depend on whether or not you can stomach what The Rock’s been cooking in his post-WWF movie career.

We’ll have more on this as it develops…
