Those of us old enough to remember the mid eighties will surely recall GARBAGE PAIL KIDS, the bafflingly popular bubblegum cards produced by Topps. I say ‘baffling’, but if you happened to be a kid these things were the bomb. The ‘Adam Bomb’ if you will.

Undeterred by the hypnotically abysmal attempt to bring the grotesque characters to the big-screen in 1987 (check out the trailer below, you won’t believe your eyes!) former Disney head-honcho Michael Eisner is moving forward with a new movie through his Tornante Company production outfit.

Award winning shorts director PES (yep, that’s what he goes by, let’s not judge) and buzz-worthy writer Michael Vukadinovich are the two filmmakers charged with the unenviable task of making these translate on screen.

Details remain slim at the moment, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one. Could it possibly be any good? It can’t be any worse, that’s for sure…
