At the last count, James McAvoy was apparently set to play the titular role in the remake of 1994’s THE CROW. Well, according to The Wrap, it now appears that Marvel’s God of Mischief, Tom Hiddleston, is up for the role. Best known for his appearances as Loki in THOR and THE AVENGERS, Hiddleston is in early negotiations for the part of Eric Draven.

Originally from the dark mind of James O’Barr, THE CROW tells a story of love and vengeance, as Eric Draven and his ‘one true’, Shelley, are brutally murdered. Returning from the grave, Draven applies some slap and goes about implementing his own form of justice. The story was actually written by O’Barr as a way to deal with the death of his girlfriend.

With O’Barr’s novel adapted for the big screen, it also spawned a TV series, THE CROW: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, and several sequels, THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS, THE CROW: SALVATION and THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER.

Whilst no release date currently set for THE CROW remake, the film will be directed by F. Javier Guttierez from a script by Cliff Dorfman.
