Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter to announce that the X-Men character Apocalypse will be appearing in a cinema near us in 2016. Here is that very tweet:

@BryanSinger: #Xmen #Apocalypse 2016!

An X-Force film is apparently on its way the same year, so who’s to say that this X-MEN: APOCALYPSE won’t be incorporated in with the Deadpool/Cable adventure. Bryan Singer, director of the upcoming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, is bound  to be involved one way or another. This is the guy who brought us everything that’s good from the X-Men on our screens (i.e. Not THE LAST STAND).

So are we looking forward to two X-Men films in 2016, or one mega X-Men movie? The latter of the two might even support some early reports of a reunion for Scott Summers and Jean Grey if the Age of Apocalypse storyline from the 1990s is involved. I’m sure the details will come flowing soon.

Apocalypse himself is a popular character and was actually listed in the X-Men’s top 10 villains in recent years, so his debut in an X-Men film was bound to be on it’s way. As far as the X-Men themselves are concerned, they have DAYS OF FUTURE PAST coming 22nd May, 2014, and 2016 can’t come quick enough.
