Treat this purely as a rumour for now, but the latest STAR WARS news coming out is that Disney want Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron for EPISODE VII. Latino Review is claiming to have the exclusive scoop on the situation.

It’s being reported that Disney were in talks with Leonardo DiCaprio but he apparently turned down their offer in order to focus on an adaptation of ROBOTECH. Since then, Disney have now turned their attention to Gosling and Efron. The latest is that Gosling is up for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son and that Efron is wanted to play one of Han and Leia’s children. We’re not sure just how that would work right now, although it’s already been confirmed that EPISODE VII wont exactly follow any of the expanded universe stories.

Disney purposely kept a low profile at San Diego’s Comic-Con due to their D232 Expo coming up on 9th to 11th August. It’s expected that there’ll be some major casting news revealed then.

As mentioned, treat this purely as a rumour for now, but expect to hear a lot more STAR WARS news in the next few weeks.
