Since DISTRICT 9 proved to be a huge success – it grossed $210 million from a $30 million budget – there’s been talk of a possible sequel somewhere down the line. Pegged as DISTRICT 10, all has gone quiet over the last year or so regarding the project. Director Neill Blomkamp has been speaking to Wired to give an update on where things currently stand.

Blomkamp said that an 18-page treatment exists for DISTRICT 10, but he didn’t go into any real details on the plot. All he would say was that the story is “really f***ing cool.”

Despite how expletively cool the film may be, Blomkamp sadly added that he’s not prepared to commit to a sequel right now. Another titbit that he let out of the bag is that he was also apparently asked to be a part of the new STAR WARS universe, but he chose to not get involved with Disney’s latest toy.

Blomkamp’s latest effort, ELYSIUM, is released on 9th August.
