With the cinematic rights for Daredevil having now reverted back to Marvel Studios, the company also attempted to get the Fantastic Four rights back from 20th Century Fox. Clearly that failed, with Fox now in production on Josh Trank’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR. As a result, it appears that Marvel are doing their best to take any shine off of Trank’s FF reboot.

BleedingCool is reporting that Marvel have actually made plans to put all FANTASTIC FOUR comic titles on hold, in the hope that fans will have minimal interest in the superhero family come Fox’s release. The characters will still appear in other comic book titles, just their own books are to take a sabbatical. And in the stories that they do appear in, they’ll be far from the focus of the stories. In some other related news, it’s also claimed that all Fantastic Four artwork has been removed from the Marvel offices.

This isn’t the first time that Marvel have done something like this, with them refusing to do any form of promotion for Fox’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. With the X-Men, though, they still ran their comic book titles. Either way, DAYS OF FUTURE PAST managed to become the highest grossing of all the X-MEN movies to date.
