With MAN OF STEEL still soaring relatively high at the box office, director Zack Snyder has been speaking to Moviehole about a Superman sequel and a possible Justice League film. Both MAN OF STEEL 2 and JUSTICE LEAGUE are being moved into production by the powers that be at Warner Brothers.

Revealing that he’s due to meet the WB shortly, Snyder said, “I haven’t yet gotten to speak to the studio about all these awesome details because I’ve been overseas on the press junket. So my hope is, when I get home I can sit down with everyone and it’ll be like ‘Okay, so what are we going to do? We need to do something…’”

With MAN OF STEEL featuring plenty of action, destruction and carnage, the director was asked what we can expect action-wise from a sequel. He replied, “We almost destroyed the world last time. Now what?”

Concluding the interview, Snyder was asked whether MAN OF STEEL 2 would be used as a launching pad for JUSTICE LEAGUE. He said, “I really wanted to expand the DC Universe and I really wanted to make sure, in Superman’s world, that all that is a possibility.”

So, it seems as if the MAN OF STEEL sequel will look to further allude to other characters in the DC Universe. For the eagle-eyed amongst you, you’ll have noticed that there were nods to Batman, Cyborg and Lex Luthor in Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL. In terms of Lex, it’s been rumoured this week that Mark Strong is currently the front-runner to take on the role of Superman’s greatest foe.

At present, if the stories are to be believed, MAN OF STEEL 2 is pushing ahead for a 2014 release date, with JUSTICE LEAGUE to follow in 2015.
