Hot on the heels of Lou Ferrigno claiming he was the best Hulk, David Hasselhoff has been talking up his wish to play Nick Fury once more. As featured in the current issue of Starburst, The Hoff donned the eye-patch back in 1998 for NICK FURY: AGENT OF SHIELD. Let’s just say, it wasn’t exactly a success. Speaking to Yahoo Movies, the-artist-formerly-known-as-Michael-Knight has been chiming in on how good a Nick Fury he was.

“I was the first Nick Fury,” he said. “Stan Lee put me in that. He gave me the best line ever: ‘Guys like you tend to cling to the bowl no matter how many times you flush.’ Stan Lee came on the set and told me all about Nick. He said ‘You’re the ultimate Nick Fury’. He gave me the greatest compliment ever.”

The Hoff was then asked about his thoughts on Jackson’s turns as Fury. He replied, “It wasn’t Nick Fury. Whoever directed THE AVENGERS decided they wanted to go that way. It’s their prerogative. I was hoping to have played him in the movie. And then Samuel L. Jackson came in and he was a great Nick Fury, but he wasn’t really the consummate Nick Fury, the way he was written. And I think that’s a shame because he’s a great character and a funny character… I’m hoping to do it again sometime.”

I think it’s pretty safe to say that The Hoff has about as much chance of playing Nick Fury again as he has of managing to eat a cheeseburger successfully when pissed. If you have no idea what we’re on about, just Google ‘Hasselhoff cheeseburger.’

As for Samuel L. rocking it as Nick Fury, I guess Hasselhoff has never come across the Ultimates version of Nick Fury or of the 616 Nick Fury Jr. at any point.
