More news on yet another reboot, but here goes…

The long-discussed HIGHLANDER reboot has landed itself a new director. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was previously on directing duties, but he walked out last year. Similarly, earlier this year the film lost its leading man: Ryan Reynolds. Deadline is reporting that the film has now hired visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to bust his directorial cherry. Interesting choice, to say the least.

The original 1986 HIGHLANDER starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish warrior that spent centuries battling similarly immortal warrior. His M.O. was “there can be only one”, and so he’d spend his days beheading other immortals. The film spawned several sequels and TV series.

At the last count, IRON MAN screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway had been working on the latest version of HIGHLANDER.
