It was widely conjectured that THE WOLVERINE / DAYS OF FUTURE’S PAST double header might mark the end of Hugh Jackman’s tenure as everybody’s favourite murderous Canadian.

Apparently not.

Despite its underwhelming domestic gross (ranking as the worst X-MEN film in the States with $132.4 million) THE WOLVERINE, due to the bounteous power of the foreign markets, has gone on to become the most successful X-MEN movie to date. With $280 million grossed overseas, its collectively gathered $413 million. Which is pretty damn good.

Naturally then, more films are on the way.

Deadline Hollywood reported earlier today that 20th Century Fox have opened negotiations with THE WOLVERINE director James Mangold and the mutton-chopped maniac himself (Hugh Jackman is Wolverine forever now by the way) for a new entry in the increasingly engorged series.

So far we know that Mangold has reached a deal to write a treatment while franchise boss Shuler Donner has been attached to produce. What that story might actually be is a watertight secret for now however.

So there we go, are you excited to see more of Hugh Jackman’s absurdly ripped physique shaming you into using that gym membership you bought last year? Or should Hollywood just let him sing his meaty heart as he’s always dreamed?

WOLVERINE: THE MUSICAL? It should definitely happen.
