Gareth Evans’ Indonesian actioner The Raid: Redemption (2011) was a real hit (no pun intended) with audiences, and thus this year’s sequel The Raid 2: Berendal was no surprise and was expected to similarly pull no punches (pun intended!). However, in a discussion with Variety, Gareth Evans has got action fans’ palms sweating once again with talks of a Raid 3. At this rate Iko Uwais is going to have punched everyone in the face!

Don’t get the nunchucks out just yet though, as such talk is obviously very early days; Evans said in the discussion, “They’re going to have to wait a while.” Evans continued, “I don’t want to do it for three years, maybe. I do have a concept in mind. If this one is two hours after The Raid finished, Raid 3 starts three hours before The Raid 2 finishes. So you go back in time a little and then branch off for a different story.” Sounds interesting to say the least and it makes one wonder how this timeline angle will work into what could be a series of Raid films.

Evans’ movie was unflinchingly brutal and even more unflinchingly awesome, and the sequel promises exactly that and more, so you won’t find any arguments here against another film. Here’s our early title suggestion (get it noted) The Raid 3: Carry on Kicking

The Raid 2: Berendal is released on the 11th of April. Don’t you dare miss it, or else…
