With Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hitting the big screen in May, the director has been discussing some possible characters that may appear in DOFP’s already-announced sequel, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

Speaking to Cine Premiere, Singer revealed, “I’m considering Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for APOCALYPSE. I was going to have Nightcrawler in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and even wrote a scene, but I felt that we were forcing too many mutants into the story.”

The story that Singer is talking about is currently being worked on by Singer, Simon Kinberg, Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris. Plot details are hazy at this point, although the major threat in the movie will be long-time X-Men villain Apocalypse.

In previous interviews, producer Lauren Shuler Donner has regularly stated her wish to have Channing Tatum play Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit, in an upcoming X-Men movie. Added to this, Tatum has often talked of his wish to play a superhero, even seeming keen on playing Gambit if the chance was to arise. Could this all finally come to fruition in time for APOCALYPSE?

At present, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is scheduled for a 27th May, 2016 release.
