Following on from the rumours that Disney had targeted obscure Marvel comic book property BIG HERO 6 for the animated treatment, comes advance confirmation that the House of Mouse are indeed in early development. The eager beavers over at Entertainment weekly just couldn’t wait for the official Comic Con announcement in a few short weeks, so badgered the company into spilling the beans. As previously reported here, the comic spins the tale of a lesser-known super team set up by the Japanese government.
“Never heard of ‘em!”. Who said that? Oh, all of you. Well, here’s our handy guide!
Big Hero 6 super roll call go!
Sunfire
Powers: Sun-type ones.
Silver Samurai (also rumoured to be the villain in THE WOLVERINE oddly enough)
Powers: He’s a samurai. And a pretty nifty one at that. Probably. He is also clad in silver, so it will be difficult to fight him on a particularly sunny day due to the shiny.
Hiro
Powers: Super smart 13-year-old whizz-kid. Oh, and he’s got a giant robot dragon with his dead dad’s memory installed named…
Baymax
Powers: Like we said. He’s a robot dragon.
Honey Lemon
Powers: Mystic handbag (no, we’re not making this up), of which ANYTHING can be pulled from it. It’s just got to be imagined first. Perhaps Honey Lemon could imagine an appropriate top.
Go-Go Tomago
Powers: Lady in a battle suit that enables her to transform into balls of energy. No, not of the testicular variety, that would be unpleasant.
Sounds like an interesting line-up, though we remain somewhat skeptical why this will be at all exciting animated? Live-action, sure – but haven’t audiences been raised on this type of stuff all their lives? Where’s the challenge?
BIG HERO 6 is rumoured to be coming 2014. Quick turnaround for this kind of thing no?
