Remember those Johnny Depp to play Doctor Strange rumours? Well The Hollywood Reporter claims to have word on who are currently the front-runners to direct Marvel Studios and Disney’s DOCTOR STRANGE.

According to THR’s report, the names currently in talks and under consideration are WARM BODIES’ Jonathan Levine, BRAVE’s Mark Andrews, WELCOME TO YESTERDAY’s Dean Israelite and A ROYAL AFFAIR’s Nikolaj Arcel. It’s also claimed that KUNG FU PANDA’s Jon Abibel and Glenn Berger are in talks to join the Stephen Strange-centric story, although they will be working on the screenplay.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige has confirmed that DOCTOR STRANGE is definitely happening, although it’s not known when the good doctor will hit screens. Marvel’s Phase Three of films is set to open with ANT-MAN and conclude with THE AVENGERS 3, and there are three dates pencilled in for further film in that ‘phase’ – 6th May, 2016, 8th July, 2016 and 5th May, 2017. Whether Doc Strange gets a Phase Three outing remains to be seen.

At present, it’s been confirmed that Marvel and Disney are looking to develop THOR 3, CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 and DOCTOR STRANGE. Then there are those regular rumours of solo movies for Black Widow, Hulk and Black Panther.

Expect more on this as it develops.
