This morning brings word that the Annabelle sequel has brought in a new face in the form of Miranda Otto.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, with the Lords of the Rings actress set to play one of the lead roles in the sequel. Lights Out’s David Sandberg will be directing from a script by Gary Dauberman. James Wan and Peter Safran are serving as producers.

The early word on Annabelle 2 is that it “tells the story of a dollmaker and his wife who, 20 years after the tragic death of their little girl, welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home. Soon, however, the nun and the girls become the target of the dollmarker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.”

Otto is slated to play the dollmaker’s wife, who is described as “a disfigured recluse”.

Expect more on Annabelle 2 as we get it.
