Bong Joon Ho’s follow-up to the Oscar-winning Parasite continues to add to its cast, as Deadline reveals that Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Naomi Ackie will be joining Robert Pattinson in this next feature. The film, as yet untitled, is based on the Edward Ashton novel Mickey7.

While the film will be inspired by the novel, it’s fair to assume that, in light of Bong’s past film adaptations, his version will vary significantly from the novel. That said, the novel’s story follows Mickey7, an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous – even suicidal – the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal… and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

Horror and genre queen Toni Collette was recently seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley, as well as I’m Thinking of Ending Things. Ruffalo was most recently seen opposite Ryan Reynolds in the Netflix time-travelling adventure, The Adam Project, and will soon reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Marvel’s upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, as well as starring in Frankenstein reimagining, Poor Things. Ackie, meanwhile, after a star-making turn in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will star in the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody as the pop icon.
