As word broke earlier this year that Netflix had brought in Oculus and Hush’s Mike Flanagan to develop a 10-episode take on The Haunting of Hill House, now comes the first casting news for the series.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Game of Thrones’ Michiel Huisman will be headlining as Steven Crane, the oldest Crane sibling and someone who is responsible for penning a host of supernatural books based around the family’s time living at the eerie Hill House.

The Haunting of Hill House is a beloved 1959 novel from Shirley Jackson, and it has twice been adapted as a big-screen movie as simply The Haunting in both 1963 and 1999.

Plot-wise, The Haunting of Hill House centres on the titular sinister house and four people who visit it to explore its spooky reputation. Despite their stay being one that they hoped would bring paranormal results, it soon becomes clear that the group are in over their heads as Hill House is determined to make one of them its own.

Expect more on this as it develops.
