With Star Trek: Discovery confirmed for next year, the series has finally moved to reveal its first cast member.

Some of the rumours out there claim that the full cast are already actually in place for the show, just that CBS is holding off revealing them just yet. Regardless, Nicholas Meyer, who helmed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and is serving as a consulting producer on this new show, briefly revealed to ComingSoon.net, “I know Michelle Yeoh is in it.”

Yeoh is likely best known to genre fans for her role of Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and its sequel, not to mention for having a regular road in Netflix’s well-received Marco Polo. As for what role she could have in Star Trek: Discovery, it could well be that she’ll be playing the female Lieutenant Commander who’ll be the lead of this new series.

Star Trek: Discovery will debut on CBS in the US next May, with the show to have a home on Netflix in the UK and plenty of other countries.
