In some great news, Get Out’s Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is teaming with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television on an adaptation of Lovecraft Country.

As per Deadline, Matt Ruff’s novel is being adapted as a new HBO series. In fact, so keen are the network that they’ve already given the show a full series order rather than testing the water with a pilot episode first. For the first episode, Underground’s Misha Green is on writing duties and she’ll also be the showrunner for the series.

Based on 25-year-old Atticus Black, the official synopsis for Lovecraft Country reads:

After his father goes missing, Black joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow American to find him. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Expect more on Lovecraft Country as it develops.
