It was announced last year that Joe Hill’s Locke & Key was being adapted for TV, and now comes word that the series has been picked up by Hulu.

As per Deadline, Hulu will be the home of this upcoming adaptation and a pilot order has now been ordered. In addition to this, Carlton Cuse, best known for Lost and The Strain, has been brought in as showrunner and executive producer. For that pilot, it’s also been revealed that Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson will be directing that first episode.

Plot-wise, the Locke & Key franchise is based on the Locke family and the fantastical and eerie Keyhouse; a mansion whose very doors transform any who walk through them, whilst the home also houses a hate-filled creature who wishes to cause nothing but chaos. As well as being created and written by Joe Hill, the series features art from Gabriel Rodriguez.

Previously, the rights for Locke & Key were picked up by Dimension Films back in 2008, and then 2010 saw FOX develop a TV series. Sadly, neither of these times saw anything fully come to be where an adaptation was concerned, but now it finally looks as if we’ll be getting to see Locke & Key brought to life on the small screen.
