With shooting on the Alita: Battle Angel adaptation set to start later this month, the film has brought in another new addition.

Joining the upcoming adap will be Marco Polo’s Leonard Wu, who will play Kinuba in the film. In the manga source material, Kinuba is the reigning champion of the cyborg coliseum landscape.

Condor joins a cast that currently includes Rosa Salazar as Alita, Christoph Waltz as Doctor Dyson, Keann Johnson as Huge, Ed Skrein as the villainous cyborg Zapan, Mahershala Ali as the nefarious Vector, Lana Condor as the orphan Koyomo K, and unknown roles for Jackie Earl Haley and Eliza Gonzalez.

Alita: Battle Angel is a manga tale set in the 26th century and which centres on the titular Alita, an amnesiac cyborg who is literally picked up off a scrapheap by Doc Dyson. Given a timely rebuild, Alita soon uses her martial arts expertise to hunt down a whole host of no-good criminal sorts.

Despite James Cameron having been developing the film for an age, the man now tasked with helming Alita is Robert Rodriguez due to Cameron’s hectic Avatar schedule which sees him working on four Avatar sequels at the moment.
