Recent news revealed that another UNDERWOLD movie was on the way, with suggestions that it will be a reboot of sorts or a relaunch for the series. Now comes confirmation from Variety that Kate Beckinsale, star of the franchise, will not be a part of the new film.

Additionally, the report says that Theo James’ David will instead be the focus of this latest UNDERWORLD effort. That character, a vampire and ally of Beckinsale’s Selene, was introduced in 2012’s UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING. Here he will head-up the picture alongside two yet-to-be-cast females. Interestingly, the one entry in the series so far that didn’t focus on Selene, 2009’s UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS, was the one that took home the least at the box office.

At present, PRIEST’s Cory Goodman is penning the script for this latest UNDERWORLD, although no director is on board at this stage. Shooting is expected to start in the first half of next year.
