It seems like every month or two there’s some talk of a follow-up to 2012’s surprisingly brilliant DREDD. And with that, star Karl Urban has been speaking at Chicago Comic-Con about the possibility of donning the famed helmet once more.

Speaking to the guys at ShallowGraves, when asked about whether we could see the Dark Judges appear in any sequel, Urban teased, “Why yes, there is a definite possibility. But, it is more likely that we will do the origins story with Dredd trekking through the cursed earth to find the first Chief, Judge Fargo.”

In terms of a movie, the prospect of Dredd trawling apocalyptic landscapes in search of his clone father could make for magnificent viewing. Whether it happens, that’s another question. Despite us, and seemingly everyone who saw the movie, being massive fans of Pete Travis’ DREDD, the film did less than stellar in terms of box office. In fact, from a $50 million budget the film only took home $35 million across the globe. A cult following followed on home release, with many hoping that the strong fan demand will lead to a sequel being given the green light.

Urban, Travis and writer Alex Garland have all talked of their interest in getting this project off the ground. Fingers crossed that they get their wish.
