Given how Marvel’s Netflix shows have been fantastic in how they’ve breathed life into characters such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones over multi-episode seasons, you can see why the Netflix model may be an appealing one for certain characters. As such, it comes as no surprise to see Jeremy Renner talking about how he’d like to see Hawkeye given the chance at a small screen series.

Speaking at the recent Silicon Valley Comic Con, as reported by ComicBook.com, Renner was asked about whether he’d be keen for a Hawkeye-centric show to hit Netflix. The actor teased, “I think that’s actually a really great model. If there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now; you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”

So basically, that’s a firm “yes, please” from Renner should Marvel come a-knocking with a solo show for Clint Barton. Whether that happens, though, who knows.

Additionally, the event saw the actor, who is also revered for his turns in the likes of The Hurt Locker and The Town, asked about whether he’d be keen to do a team-up movie with Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow. “In a second. I’d love to do that,” was his response to that notion.

With Daredevil and Jessica Jones given their own Netflix shows, and with Luke Cage and Iron Fist shows both to follow, not to mention The Defenders or the talks of possible solo shows for the likes of Hellcat and The Punisher, there’s certainly a buzz around Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive outings. With a solo Hawkeye movie seemingly not on the horizon any time soon, a thirteen-episode series could be absolutely perfect to flesh out the Hawkeye character should Marvel so choose to do so.

As mentioned, whether anything ever comes of this, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s interesting to see that Jeremy Renner can certainly see the benefit of having Hawkeye headline his own TV show, especially as Barton is the one who has been most short-changed out of the cinematic Avengers. To date, he’s had an uber-brief cameo in Thor, was a possessed bad guy for the majority of Avengers Assemble and then was finally given some semblance of character development in last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. He’ll be seen next teaming with Cap when Captain America: Civil War hits the big screen on April 29th.
