The early word on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is that it’s going to be a big, big hit for Marvel and Disney. Then again, did you really expect anything less at this point? Speaking on Adam Carolla’s podcast, director James Gunn confirmed that he’ll be returning if the long-rumoured GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 gets greenlit.

Gunn said, “I’m actually in a somewhat weird position because if the movie does well, then I’m gonna make the sequel. And if it does okay then, well, I’ve already been offered other movies but I can only do those other movies if I don’t do the sequel, so it’s a weird situation.”

Sounds to us like Gunn has himself one of those fancy multi-picture deals with Marvel and the House of Mouse. The early footage from GUARDIANS looks brilliant, so here’s hoping it lives up to the high standards that Marvel Studios have set themselves.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY official hits the UK on 31st July.
