Here at Moonbase Alpha, we’re big fans of the dark, eerie and often odd (in all the right ways) Twisted Showcase anthology web series. Over its three highly-acclaimed series to date, the production has brought in the likes of Red Dwaf’s Norman Lovett, Torchwood’s Gareth David-Lloyd, and Doctor Who’s Sarah Louise Madison to star in its short, stark stories, and now the aim is to use Kickstarter to bring back the ever-enjoyable Lovett for yet another twisted, tormented outing.

The idea to bring back fan-favourite Lovett came about whilst Series 4 of Twisted Showcase was being put together, with the plan being to have him turn up in a special Series 4 “extra” episode titled The No Hotline. In the dystopian future-set episode, Lovett will be playing a character by the name of Mr No.

On bringing back the much-loved Norman Lovett, series producer and writer Robin Bell said, “When I wrote this I knew he was perfect, and after he’d wowed us in Toilet Soup and when headlining our Live exhibition night, I really hoped we’d get the chance to work together again. It does mean another crowdfund, but one that will lead to our first futuristic episode, the return of Norman Lovett, and, as always, a brilliant cerebral story. Norman instantly said yes after reading the script, now it’s just up to everyone out there to help us make this happen. So yes to No!”

When asked for a comment himself, in his typical deadpan, understated way, Lovett added, “I’m looking forward to working with Twisted Showcase again.”

Obviously the main aim here is to have Norman Lovett return to Twisted Showcase once more, but if the crowdfunding campaign reaches beyond its goal then the plan is for Robin Bell & Co. to produce some audio adventures as well as more one-minute horror films as part of a spin-off series. The current Kickstarter campaign runs until September 19th, and you can make any and all donations here.

Mixing horror, psychological drama, thriller and comedy, the new series of Twisted Showcase, as ever, will be looking to once-more celebrate the weird. And that is most certainly always good with us.
