Following a lukewarm critical reception, Syfy’s medical drama-cum-horror show HELIX managed to survive the ruthless world of TV. With work underway on the show’s second series, it’s survived longer than many other new shows, including BELIEVE and ALMOST HUMAN.

Matt Long has joined the CDC team as Dr. Kyle Sommer, a world-renowned toxicologist. Long played a young Johnny Blaze in the tedious mess of 2007’s GHOST RIDER, as well as seven episodes of the hit show MAD MEN.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA executive producer Ronald D. Moore developed HELIX, produced by Sony TV, which followed a team of scientists called to an Antarctic research facility to combat a viral outbreak. The shit promptly hit the fan.

More details as we hear them.
