With Transformers: The Last Knight hitting cinemas later this month, we’re now hearing the first piece of potential casting news for the next installment in this franchise: the Bumblebee spin-off.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, True Grit, Ender’s Game and The Edge of Seventeen’s Hailee Steinfeld is in talks with Paramount to star in the spin-off – simply titled Bumblebee at this point. The role in question is that of a tomboy who also happens to be a mechanic once school finishes for the day.

No major plot details are known on the Travis Knight-helmed movie at this stage bar the fact that the film will focus on fan favourite Bumblebee; an Autobot who first appeared back in Michael Bay’s original 2007 Transformers picture and has been an ever-present since then.

Up next for Bumblebee and his shiny Chevrolet Camaro torso is Transformers: The Last Knight, which is released globally on June 21st, and then his solo adventure is currently booked in for June 2018.
