Remember how Syfy’s developing a pilot for a show based around Superman’s grandfather? No? Well they are. And now comes word that the show has found its female lead.

Deadline is reporting that Georgina Campbell, best known for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, has landed the lead female gig for the pilot of Krypton. Campbell will be playing Lyta Zod, a member of Krypton’s military and the daughter of General Alura Zod, and she’ll be involved in a forbidden romance with the show’s central character, Seg-El.

The series will largely be based around Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather, and will see him fighting to bring honour and redemption to the House of El after it had been shamed and ostracized. At present, Georgina Campbell is actually the only cast member to join the show so far.

Krypton is being executive produced by David S. Goyer, Damian Kindler is on board as executive producer/showrunner and Colm McCarthy will direct the pilot episode, which will shoot in Serbia later this year.
