Following on from the E3 announcement that it does indeed exist, EA CFO Blake Jorgenson stated during an investor call that STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT will likely launch “alongside the new STAR WARS films, probably in summer 2015.”

It’s almost like they planned it that way or something. Market…ing?

BATTLEFRONT 1 and 2 garnered an enormous fan-base for the series and, with the dissolution of Lucasfilm following the Disney deal, the long gestating BATTLEFRONT 3 seemed as dead as everyone wished Jar Jar Binks was.

Fortunately, however, the rebooted follow-up, now simply titled BATTLEFRONT, is well on its way to our screens, so rejoice, fans of STAR WARS and warfare alike.

With BATTLEFIELD’s DICE at the helm and a well-established, much-loved IP, here’s hoping this might be the STAR WARS game everyone has been waiting for. Either that, or it’s going to clash with the new film and cause a fanboy rage vortex the likes of which the realm has never seen before.

We can expect more news as the game gets nearer to release. It’s going to be a long wait.
